A look at the Catalyst for Payment Reform’s (CPR) “Scorecard 2.0”, which is being tested by three states including New Jersey, Virginia, and Colorado. Specific to Virginia, this article highlights the Virginia Center for Health Innovation (VCHI) as being responsible for getting the state’s health plans on board and discusses why Virginia was chosen. Similarly, New Jersey has also issued a press announcement about its involvement.

According to CPR’s press release about the pilot program, the new scorecard “will continue to measure how much payment reform there is and of what type. It will also measure, at a macro level, the impact that payment reform is having on the health care system. To that effect, CPR has added 12 new metrics to the Scorecard that, together with the original ones, gauge the economic signals that payers are sending to health care providers, how the health care system may be transforming and whether there is an impact on outcomes.”
